As a College Possible AmeriCorps service member, you'll receive a comprehensive package of compensation, education award, healthcare insurance, and professional development opportunities through the duration of your service year. 

Living allowance

All state/national and VISTA AmeriCorps members receive a modest annual living allowance that is paid either biweekly (every two weeks) or bimonthly (twice a month), depending on your service role. Below are details about the living allowance and stipends available by position type and location. The amount of the living allowance is determined by the National Corporation for Community Service and varies moderately by your service location.

Pell-eligible supplemental allowance

In select service locations, state/national AmeriCorps members who were Pell eligible while they attended college will also receive an additional $2,000.00 supplemental allowance during their service year, paid out biweekly.**

College Possible student alumni supplemental allowance

In select service locations, state/national AmeriCorps members who are College Possible student alumni may qualify to receive $2,000.00 supplemental allowance during their service year, paid out biweekly.**

Education award

At the end of the 1,700 hour service term, you’ll receive an education award of $6,895.00* that you can use to repay student loans or put toward future education expenses.

Comprehensive training

As a College Possible AmeriCorps member, you'll spend your first two weeks immersed in comprehensive, hands-on training sessions thoughtfully designed to set you up for success in your service role. 

Professional development

As a College Possible AmeriCorps member, you'll gain access to in-person and virtual professional development opportunities to build sought-after professional skills that can be transferred into any career path, including: team leadership, conflict resolution,  multicultural communication, inclusion and equity, data management, facilitation and student coaching. You'll also benefit from participation in a national community of practice with fellow AmeriCorps members and program staff to accelerate your skill building and broaden your network.

Healthcare coverage

Modest healthcare (medical, dental and vision) coverage plans are available.

 

Loan forbearance and interest accrual

At the end of your service term, you can apply for the government to pay the interest accrued on your loans during your term of service.

*For full time AmeriCorps state and national service members serving during the 2023-2024 service year. Additional benefits may be available for some service positions. Please refer to the individual job description for details.

**Qualifying AmeriCorps members can only receive either a Pell eligible supplemental allowance or a student alumni supplemental allowance; these allowances cannot be combined.
